What happens at an Arraignment?

When a person appears in court, their first court appearance is an Arraignment.  At an Arraignment the judge will read the defendant the charges he/she is being charged with.  The judge will ask the defendant if he or she is guilty or not guilty of the charges against them.  If a person pleas guilty then they will be sentenced for the crime.  If the person enters a plea of not guilty, then the judge will set a new court date for the defendant to come back to fight the case against them.  If a person is in custody at the time of the arraignment and wants to fight the case, then he or she will be sent back to jail until the next court date or if they have bail they may be bailed out of jail but must appear back in court on the date promised.

It is always best to fight a case from out of custody.  Some cases can take months or even years to fight.  If your loved one in jail call Golden Eagle Bail Bonds at 877-525-1711.  Our agents are always available to help you get your loved one out.
